Etiquette: A Guide to the Most Common Etiquette Rules and Social Situations where Etiquette Matters (The Modern Ladies & Gentleman Book 4)Etiquette: A Guide to the Most Common Etiquette Rules and Social Situations where Etiquette Matters by Niel Schreiber

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Etiquette, by Niel Schreiber, is a guidebook focused on the rules of common etiquettes used in social situations.

The book prima facie contains a brief history of etiquette which thereafter culminates into nine different scenarios consisting of the dos and don’ts in each segment. It starts with the techniques from the Victorian era, some of which are still prevalent, it rides you through the need of proper etiquettes and its necessity in everyday situations.

As the name suggests, the book falls under the ‘self-help’ genre. The table of contents is prima facie divided into three parts inter alia an introduction, 9 finely structured chapters and conclusion. Unlike the other books of this genre, the book is short, precise and covers topics of everyone’s interest viz. a parent, an individual, and an introvert who finds himself in an awkward situation at social gatherings such as on a date as well as on a funeral.

Another tip off for the readers, this book is not limited to social interactions. It governs the behavioural aspect of one’s dressing sense, interviews, workplaces, and even in the advent of online social media. The book is a good read for people who require behavioural for social gatherings. Although, I feel that the author can provide a detailed input in the chapters. My suggestion- read it if you have never been into self-help books.
